I-57/74 construction stage change set June 13

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that the ramp from northbound Interstate 57 to westbound I-74 in Champaign will close the evening of June 13. 

The closure is necessary to begin the construction of a new I-74 bridge over I-57 as part of a larger project to rebuild the entire interchange. A detour utilizing northbound I-57 to Market Street and then back to southbound I-57 to westbound I-74 will be in place during construction, which is expected to last about one year. 

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
