Hunter named 2019-2020 principal at Lincoln Trail
The Mahomet-Seymour Board of Education of Education has announced the hiring of Megan Hunter as the new principal at Lincoln Trail Elementary School.
She will be officially appointed at the February 11, 2019 Board of Education meeting, and starts her position on July 1, 2019.
Hunter joined the Mahomet-Seymour School District as the Behavioral Specialist in 2015. She was hired as Lincoln Trail’s Assistant Principal for the 2018-2019 school year.
Prior to holding these positions, Mrs. Hunter was a special education teacher in the Williamson County (IL) Special Education Cooperative from 2005-2013. From 2013-2015, Mrs. Hunter was a special education teacher in Carbondale Elementary School District #95. She holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from Southern Illinois University and is working toward her Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
Hunter’s new assignment within the district comes upon the retirement of Jeff Starwalt. Starwalt has been with the Mahomet-Seymour School District for 19 years.
“Mrs. Hunter has demonstrated her leadership in the district for the past four years, and her background and expertise are an excellent fit in transitioning to the principal’s position at Lincoln Trail,” said Board President Max McComb. “We look forward to having Mrs. Hunter lead Lincoln Trail into a very exciting time in our school district.”
Hunter’s salary for the 2019-2020 school year will be $89,000. Hunter’s 2018-2019 assistant principal contract was $70,000.
