Homeruns by Selk and Johnson lead Bulldogs to win
By Fred Kroner
Home runs by Carter Selk and Carter Johnson powered Mahomet-Seymour to a 6-5 win at home over Peru St. Bede on Saturday (April 30) in a Strikeout for Cancer Benefit for Ty Andracke, the 7-year-old son of long-time M-S coach Eric Andracke.
Selk slugged a two-run homer in the third inning to create a 2-2 tie. Johnson’s grand slam in the fourth sent M-S ahead to stay, 6-3.
Johnson and Blake Wolters each collected two hits. Mateo Casillas not only earned the pitching win, but he was 3-for-3 at the plate and is 8-for-9 in his last three games.
On the mound, Casillas worked 4 2/3 innings, walked no one and struck out eight.
M-S (14-3) returns to action on Monday (May 2) at Centennial.
