Herriott, Orr lead Mahomet-Seymour Swimming at Charleston

Mahomet-Seymour opened the boys’ swimming season on Saturday by placing second in a four-team meet.
Charleston was first with 373 points, followed by the Bulldogs (345), Lincoln (312) and Mount Carmel (176).
Senior co-captain Evan Herriott was a two-event placer for M-S. He took second in the 100-yard freestyle and third in the 50-yard freestyle.
Junior Zach Orr took second in the 100-yard breaststroke and fourth in the 200-yard freestyle.
Freshmen also made a significant impact.
Caden Raquel was third in the 100-yard butterfly and fourth in the 200-yard individual medley. Mark Gutierrez finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke. Carter Logsdon captured a pair of fourths, in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly.
David Andrawes secured fourths in the 500-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke. Mitchell McAnally placed fifth in the 100-yard freestyle.
Sophomore newcomer Kent Saban rounded out the scoring by getting a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley.
M-S (2-1) will return to action on Dec. 17 with a meet against Central and Danville at the Centennial High School pool.
