Hennesy and Claybrooke tie for second at Regional tournament

Sophomore Kelton Hennesy and junior Reis Claybrooke fired 73s on Wednesday (Sept. 27) in the Centennial Class 2A boys’ golf regional tournament at the University of Illinois Orange course.
They tied for second individually in the 55-player field and helped the Bulldogs advance to the Peoria Sectional as a team. They finished two shots behind the regional medalist.
Senior teammates Leif Olson and Parker Clements carded 80s and tied for 14th.
M-S’ other regional competitors were junior Jacob Schoudel, who tied for 16th with an 81, and sophomore Cole Thrasher, who tied for 28th with an 87.
Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin captured the regional crown with a four-person composite score of 300. M-S (306) was second and Monticello (316) was third and secured the final team berth at sectionals.
The sectional will be held on Monday (Oct. 2) at Kellogg Golf Course.
