Harvey, Courson named to Apollo All-Conference team

Senior Zach Courson was a repeat selection for the Apollo all-conference boys’ golf team after tying for seventh individually in the league meet on Monday (Sept. 20) at Lake of the Woods.
Courson fired an 18-hole round of 81.
Teammate Brian Harvey shot a team-best 79 and tied for second. He finished one stroke behind the medalist and also earned all-conference accolades.
The top eight finishers were accorded all-conference status.
Other Bulldog score were John Schlenker (88), Erik Christianson (90), Reis Claybrooke (91) and Brian Coyne (91)
M-S placed fourth in the seven-school meet. Mattoon won the conference championship with a composite score of 325. Runner-up Mount Zion had a score of 329, followed by Charleston (336) and M-S (338).
On Tuesday (Sept. 21), Brogan Hennesy fired a season-best 41 to lead M-S past Centennial in a dual meet at Lake of the Woods. Hennessy tied for third place overall.
M-S and Centennial each ended with a composite of 173 after the scores of the top four players were tabulated.
The tiebreaker was the score of the fifth player from each school. M-S earned the win based on a 48 by Jackson White, which was 12 strokes better than Centennial’s fifth player.
Other M-S scores were Riley Dowers (43), Jacob Schoudel (43) and Carter Selk (46).
The Bulldogs also entered a junior varsity team in the meet. The team leaders were Sean Summers (48) and Luke Severns (51).
M-S will return to action on Thursday (Sept. 23) in the Pontiac Scramble.
