Hall asks board to accept resignation/retirement on June 30, 2022

Mahomet-Seymour Superintendent Lindsey Hall has asked the board of education to accept her resignation and retirement on June 30, 2022.

The board of education will meet at 7 p.m. on Dec. 6 to discuss.

Hall joined the Mahomet-Seymour School District in 2017 after leaving the Morton School District.

She stated her intent to retire on June 30, 2023 earlier this year. At that time, the board updated Hall’s 5-year agreement to include 5-percent salary increases the final two years of employment, including $214,404.75 for the 2021-22 school year and $225,124.99 for the 2022-2023 school year.

The board will also discuss the Superintendent search process.

  1. Dr. Hall deserves the community’s gratitude for her leadership through extremely challenging circumstances.

I can’t blame her for wanting to retire earlier than she had originally stated. Between COVID, staff shortages, a ridiculous Board of Education that constantly goes far beyond governance and policymaking and inserts itself into management of daily operations, and now a group of parents who want to do the same type of micromanagement of the curriculum and content in the media centers, it’s a miracle anyone wants to be an educator in this district, much less the superintendent.

I wish Dr. Hall nothing but the best in retirement. Unfortunately, I fear that with the current climate in the school district, we will not be able to attract a successor of her caliber.
