Grotelueschen wins 3,200 race at Normal West Wildcat Indoor Invitational

Senior Hayden Grotelueschen was the individual winner for Mahomet-Seymour’s boys’ track and field team on Friday (Feb. 10) in the 3,200-meter race at the Normal West Wildcat Indoor Invitational at Illinois Wesleyan University.
Grotelueschen was timed in 10 minutes, 12.14 seconds and held a 16.48-second margin of victory.
He was the lone Bulldog champion in the varsity division.
In freshmen-sophomore events, the foursome of Kaleb Kasper, Ethan Peterka, Lukas Nykaza and Zachary WIlcoski teamed up for a win in the 3,200-meter relay.
They were clocked in 9:18.05 and won the race by 11.28 seconds.
One other frosh-soph runner secured a top-five finish. Ethan Ramirez was fourth in the 1,600 meters (4:56.21).
In other varsity events, two M-S runners captured runner-up finishes.
Deangelo Hughey was second in the 60-meter dash (7.07 seconds) in the 25-school event.
Teammate Blake Dillman was second in the 800 meters (2:03.08).
The Bulldogs had two top-seven placers in both the pole vault and the shot put.
In the pole vault, Ty Clark took third (13 feet) and Alex Carpenter ended fifth (10-6).
In the shot put, Caleb Boykin ended sixth (42-1) and Robert Byron was seventh( 41-7).
Teammate Cole Marshall was a two-event placer. He wound up sixth in both the long jump (19-6) and the triple jump (40-6).
Ben Wallace added a seventh-place finish in the 1,600 meters (5:04.25).
The Bulldogs’ 1,600-meter relay grouping of Travis Hoffman, Josh Franklin, Marshall and Hughey captured third place (3:38.47).
