Granadino and Buchanan remain undefeated, Boy’s basketball loses Apollo Conference game

Wrestlers Gage Granadino (160-pound sophomore) and Seth Buchanan (285-pound junior) won all four of their matches on Saturday to remain unbeaten for the season.
Both Bulldogs had pins in three of their four outings at Bloomington and overall are 6-0 with five pins.
In the latest series of duals, M-S (5-1) edged Mascoutah 42-35, won a tiebreaker over Triad after the teams fought to a 35-35 draw, lost to Pekin 38-36 and handed Granite City a 60-15 loss.
The tiebreaker against Triad was individual matches won. M-S had a 7-6 edge.
M-S also won six of 10 contested matches in the loss to Pekin, but forfeited three weight classes.
Twelve Bulldogs won at least one match on Saturday and 10 had pins, including freshman Braeden Heinold (113 pounds), who won his only bout and varsity debut by fall.
Winning three matches on Saturday were Noah Schnepper (120), Chance Decker (138), Tyler Kittivanichkulkrai (170), Daniel Renshaw (195) and Brayden Bone (220).
Decker and Bone each registered three pins. Kittivanichkulkrai had two pins and Renshaw had one.
Earning two wins apiece on Saturday were Payton Ragona (106), Owen Straub (113), Peyton Myers (132) and Boden Freeman (145).
Straub, Myers and Freeman each had one pin.
Myers had a 13-second pin and Decker earned a fall in 25 seconds.
The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday with a dual meet at Clinton.
Boys’ basketball
The Bulldogs (4-2) were held to a combined 14 points in the middle two quarters on Thursday and dropped an Apollo Conference decision to visiting Taylorville, 60-46.
Season-long scoring leader Grant Coleman was limited to just four field goal attempts and scored five points.
Cole Lener led M-S with 14 points. Jordan Veldman and Connor Kamphaus each added nine points.
Veldman handed out four assists and Lener cleared five rebounds.
Dawson Finch was the Bulldogs’ leader with 12 rebounds and five assists.
Taylorville led, 17-15, after one quarter and expanded its lead to 27-23 at halftime.
The Bulldogs were 1-for-7 from the free throw line.
M-S returns to action on Tuesday at Normal University High.
