Girls Scout Troop become superheros for children
Girl Scout Troop 2066 finished their community service requirements by making superhero capes for Crisis Nursery on Dec. 10.
With the completed project, the girls earned their Agent of Change Journey badges. The journey included units on the Power of Me, the Power of Team and the Power of Community.
The cape project was taken from a Family Fun article which featured Enchanted Makeovers’ Capes for Kids. The article encouraged readers to help with the project by making superhero capes for children living in shelters.
The girls also decided to donate toys to Toys For Tots as part of their service project. Toys For Tots Coordinator Caesar Perez spoke to the girls during their Dec. 10 meeting.
The troop purchased gifts for 103 girls and 80 boys ages seven to nine on Dec. 19 at Toys R Us.
“They filled eight shopping carts and loved every minute,” troop leader Meg Loven said.
