Frazier, Culp and Nelson grab top three spots at Mount Zion

The Bulldogs swept the top three spots and registered eight of the top-10 placers on Thursday (Sept. 10) in a three-school non-scored meet at Mount Zion that also included Monticello.
M-S’ Emma Frazier led teammates Emmaline Culp and Camryn Nelson across the finish line.
Frazier’s winning 2-mile time was 15 minutes and two seconds. Runner-up Culp was timed in 15:21 and Nelson finished third in 15:35.
Teammates among the top 10 in a 35-runner field were: Ayla Finfrock (fifth in 15:40), Erika Johnson (sixth in 16:01), Ella Walk (seventh in 16:06), Adella Bird (eighth in 16:16) and Emma Busch (ninth in 16:18).
On Saturday (Sept. 12), four M-S runners earned top-10 finishes in a meet at Champaign St. Matthew.
The team’s leaders were Gabby Reeves (fifth in 14:47), Ayla Finfrock (sixth in 15:07), Isabelle Difanis (ninth in 15:31) and McKenzie Hissong (10th in 15:32).
In a field of 48 participants, nine other Bulldogs were among the top 20 finishers.
Other team leaders were: Lindsay Gowler (11th in 15:38), Erika Johnson (13th in 16:11), Ainsley Smith (14th in 16:12), Ella Ylagan (15th in 16:13), Evelyn Hillard (16th in 16:59), Olivia Cox (17th in 17:04), Peyton Shelmadine (18th in 17:10), Poppy Smith (19th in 17:11) and Claire Waggoner (20th in 17:21).
M-S returns to action on Monday (Sept. 21) at Mount Zion.
