Frank Dutton Field to receive new press box
Coaches and public address announcers will soon enjoy a new press box at Frank Dutton Field.
Crews began to tear down the current press box, which has been a part of the Mahomet-Seymour High School campus since 1981, on Monday. Once the structure is torn down, Ameresco will begin to install the steel-base structure for the new press box.
With rotting floorboards and extensive water damage, the press box has been on the Mahomet-Seymour priority list since 2006. The Mahomet-Seymour School board approved sales tax dollars to fund the $131,300 project in May.
School officials expect the new press box to be completed before the fall sports kick-off in late August. The 42-foot long structure will boast a glass front and accessible side decks.
The bleachers at Frank Dutton Field will not be replaced.
