Fourth inning run secures win for Mahomet-Seymour baseball

An 11-run fourth inning propelled Mahomet-Seymour’s baseball team to a 12-1 win on Friday (April 21) at Champaign’s St. Thomas More.
The Bulldogs trailed, 1-0, after three innings.
Ben Wagner led the M-S offense, going 3-for-3. Teammates with two hits were Tyson Finch, Carter Johnson and Finn Randolph.
Randolph delivered three RBI. Driving in two runs apiece were Finch, Braden Houchin, Johnson and Blake Wolters.
Mateo Casillas, Finch and Wagner all scored two runs.
Houchin and Cade Starrick combined on a five-inning three-hitter. Houchin pitched three innings and allowed three walks while striking out four batters. Starrick finished with two hitless innings. He walked two and fanned three.
On Saturday (April 22), pitchers Alec Bergman and Alex McHale fired matching two-hitters, neither allowing an earned run as M-S swept visiting Taylorville, 13-0 and 11-1, in an Apollo Conference doubleheader.
Bergman walked one batter and fanned seven. McHale issued no walks and recorded five strikeouts.
Four Bulldogs had hits in both games: Finch, Johnson, McHale and Wolters.
Johnson and McHale were each 4-for-6 for the day and each player batted in five runs. Johnson has delivered at least two hits in eight of his last 14 games.
Finch knocked in four runs for the twin bill. Selk scored five runs for the day and Wolters tallied four runs.
M-S (18-3) returns to action on Tuesday (April 25) at home against Centennial.
