Four MSJHS athletes compete in IESA State Golf Tournament

In its first year with a junior high school golf program, Mahomet-Seymour ended the season with its first top-25 boys’ state placer.
Kelton Hennessy fired rounds of 38 and 42 for an 80 in the one-class IESA state finals on Friday (Sept. 17) at Metamora Fields.
He tied for 21st in the 74-player individual field. Among just the eighth-graders, Hennesy finished in a tie for eighth place.
Two of his teammates also qualified for the state finals.
Dawson Freeman carded rounds of 42 and 44 for an 86, which placed him in a tie for 43rd overall. Among sixth-grade state qualifiers, Freeman tied for fourth place.
Colton McClure, an eighth-grader, shot rounds of 44 and 45 for an overall 89. He tied for 54th.
Mahomet-Seymour Junior High Girls’ Golf
Seventh-grader Sophie Park was the lone Mahomet-Seymour participant in the first IESA junior high school girls’ golf state tournament, which was held on Thursday (Sept. 16) at Metamora Fields.
Park shot rounds of 44 and 47 for an overall score of 91.
She tied for 15th place in a meet with 73 entries. Among just the seventh-grade qualifiers, Park finished in a tie for seventh.
