By Fred Kroner
Four Mahomet-Seymour wrestlers won twice on Tuesday (Dec. 7) in two dual meets at Lincoln.
Caden Hatton (113 pounds), Braeden Heinold (152 pounds), Brennan Houser (170 pounds) and Mateo Casillas (195 pounds) were each double winners in meets against Chatham Glenwood and Champaign Centennial.
Hatton posted a 15-0 technical fall win and a pin in 3 minutes and 14 seconds. Heinold had a pin in 1:30 and a 7-5 decision. Houser earned two pins, the first in 1:01 and the second in 2:17.
Casillas had an 18-3 technical fall win and a 2-minute pin against Centennial to clinch the 45-33 Bulldog team triumph.
Entering the meet’s last bout, which was at 195 pounds, M-S led Centennial 39-33. Had Casillas lost by pin, the Chargers would have finished in a 39-39 deadlock with M-S.
Nine other Bulldogs scored one win, though four of them did so by receiving forfeits: Gage Decker (126 pounds), Caleb Bundren (138 pounds), Collin Woodward (182 pounds) and Zach Hammond (220 pounds).
Registering pins against Centennial were Theo Ratliff (145 pounds), Jacob Dobbins (160 pounds) and Camden Harms (285 pounds).
Winning by decision for M-S in a 48-26 team win over Chatham Glenwood were Camden Heinold (18-6 win at 120 pounds) and Nicholas Demos (8-0 win at 160 pounds).
M-S (6-2) returns to action on Thursday (Dec. 9) at St. Thomas More in a meet that also includes Westville/Georgetown-Ridge Farm.
