Mahomet’s Ella Luna was named the Queen at the 2023 Fisher Fair on July 10.
Luna, an 18-year-old 2023 graduate of Mahomet-Seymour High School, joined the competition because “it seemed like a fun experience.”
In her first pageant, Luna said she gained skills she will take with her.
“I gained more confidence through this experience and learned a lot of new things about the Fisher Fair that I didn’t know before just by being here all week,” she said. “I also have gotten the chance to improve my public speaking skills.”
Working alongside Jr. Miss Alleigh Kellems and Little Miss McKinlee Robison, Luna embraced the responsibilities granted to her through the win as the fair continued throughout the week.
As the official hostess of the Fisher Fair, Luna helped bring light to livestock competitions, the Truck and Tractor Pull, and the Demolition Derby.
Her duties will continue all year long as the ambassador of the Fisher Fair.
“I will continue promoting the fair by attending events in the area and will also represent the Fisher Fair at the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen pageant in January to compete for the opportunity to be the state fair queen.”
