The Run for the Library will be held at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April. 1 at the Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve. Proceeds from the 5K run/walk are 10K run are split between the Friends for the Library and the Mahomet Rotary Club.
The Friends of the Library help the Mahomet Public Library offer programs for children and youth, support the library’s endowment fund and provide funding for equipment and technology purchases.
The Mahomet Rotary supports an array of local and international causes, including Mahomet Area Youth Club, Mahomet Parks and Recreation, Helping Hands, Mahomet-Seymour schools.Proceeds have also supported the construction of a new shelter in Lake of the Woods’ Buffalo Trace area.
Registration for the Run for the Library is $25 per participant registered before March 11 and $30 per participant after March 11. Children under 12 can enter for a reduced rate of $10. Timing will be provided by It’s Race Time. Awards will be presented to the top three overall runners as well as the top three runners in each age group. Children 11 years and under will receive participation ribbons.
Organizers are also looking for over 70 adult and teenage volunteers before, during and after the event to ensure it runs smoothly. Specific volunteer spots and times can be found at SignUp.com.
