Drinkwalter, Winters, Byron and Burke place in top 20 at Apollo Conference meet

Junior Jameson Drinkwalter fired an 85 on Monday at Mount Zion and tied for 13th individually in the Apollo Conference golf tournament.
Those firing an 81, or lower, earned all-conference accolades.
In the team race, M-S combined for a 361 and placed sixth in the seven-school meet. Team titlist Charleston ended with a 311 score.
Other Bulldog scores: Jacob Louis (90), C.J. Shoaf (92), Grant Harvey (94), Brandon Collins (99) and Austin Remus (101).
On Tuesday, the Bulldogs handled Champaign Central 177-193 in a junior varsity match at Lake of the Woods.
M-S’ Erik Christianson tied for medalist honors with a 41.
Other Bulldog scores included Carter Selk (43), Zach Courson (45), Remus (48), John Wagner (48) and Ryan Long (49).
M-S returns to action on Monday in the 10-school Class 2A Centennial Regional, at Savoy.
Mahomet-Seymour Girls’ golf
Three Bulldogs placed among the top 20 in Monday’s Apollo Conference meet at the Lincoln Elks.
Freshman Ainsley Winters placed 12th with a 104.
Seniors Sylvia Byron and Rachel Burke were 17th and 18th, respectively, with scores of 113 and 114, respectively.
M-S returns to action today at Lake of the Woods against Champaign Central and Mount Zion.
