District hopes to come to agreement with MSEA prior to a work stopage
In a Thursday morning interview, Mahomet-Seymour Superintendent Kenny Lee released the following statement regarding a notification that the Mahomet-Seymour Education Association voted to authorize a strike after a months-long negotiation process.
“We learned last evening, via our various media outlets, that the MSEA membership has taken a vote that has authorized a strike,” Lee said. “There are legal processes that have to be followed before any strike could occur. And I am hopeful that a contract would be ratified prior to a work stoppage.”
The superintendent would not comment further.
Lee said that statement reflects a similar statement M-S Board President Max McComb made to another news outlet Wednesday night. Lee added that McComb was speaking on behalf of the board, and he is speaking on behalf of the district.
