Culp Law Office opens in Mahomet

By Isabella Zarate

Will Culp is a husband, a father, a lawyer, and now the proud owner of the Culp Law Office on Main Street in Mahomet.

Law was not a first-choice career path for Culp. Though, according to him, “life has a funny way of bringing you to your path.”

After college, Culp Spent some time in New York working for an entertainment agency. There he was introduced to contracts. Though, it was not until he got married and started a family that he considered law school.

“I have my wife and kids to thank,” Culp shared.

Four years later, Culp received his Juris Doctorate degree (JD) from a program at Mitchell-Hamline in St. Paul, Minnesota. Meanwhile, he was working in Champaign, Danville, and Kankakee clerking for Spiros Law.

“During law school, I realized that my heart was in family law and specifically, co-parenting issues,” he said.

Upon finding his passion, Culp focused on mediation training and eventually passed the bar exam. From there, he became an associate for Rincker Law in Champaign and Shelbyville.

Later, in 2021, Culp received further training as a Guardian ad Litem, and thus decided it was time to open his own solo practice.

Culp and his family have been Mahomet residents since 2009, and when it came time to start this new endeavor, Culp could not think of a better place.

“I wanted to establish my law firm in the village I call home.”

“Our neighbors are some of the most civic-minded individuals I have ever been around,” Culp said. “But we still have the same problems as anyone else. We start businesses, get divorced, share custody of our kids, and sometimes we need legal counsel.”

Thus, the Culp Law Office was born. The small-town firm specializes in family, mediation, and business. And if there is something else that you may need legal assistance with, Culp will try his best to refer other attorneys that can help.

“It is now possible to walk into Sangamon on Main with concerns about legal jeopardy and walk out with peace of mind,” he added
