Creature Comforts Animal Hospital moves to new location
After five years of running Creature Comforts Animal Hospital, Dr. Becky Revis Wheeler opened the doors to her new clinic located at 601 S. Lake of the Woods Road Tuesday.
The move will not only better suit her growing customer base, but is designed to better serve her furry clients and staff. Designed by Dr. Revis Wheeler, the building is set up like a veterinary clinic should be.
Although Revis Wheeler is grateful for the space the Bonham Group leased her while she built her business from ground zero, she also needed room to offer additional services that she has not been able to offer before.
“Every square inch is going to be usable space for us,” she said.
With separate spaces for cats, large dogs and small dogs, Revis Wheeler is excited about the space animals will have to move around while they visit the clinic. The new Creature Comforts building has seven indoor/outdoor and five indoor boarding areas for large dogs and a separate kennel area for small dogs.
Cats will enjoy one of five themed boarding rooms. Revis Wheeler designed the vertical spaces to be entertaining for cats who like to climb, watch people or look out over a garden. Each room is wired with a camera and webcam access so owners can keep tabs on their animal while they are away.
The cat boarding rooms also include a six-inch television screen where birds and other sounds will keep the cat entertained.
“People don’t board their cats as much as they do their dogs,” Revis Wheeler said. “I want them to have a really neat place that they feel like they can take their cats to.”
Revis Wheeler also hopes to have an adoption center for cats when the cat boarding rooms are not being used.
Another option Revis Wheeler is excited about is a private comfort room for families who are grieving the loss of their pet. The room, which includes a table for the pet, is also set up for family to spend time with their pet and then exit out a private side door that leads to a meditation garden.
“For people to come to a veterinary clinic and open their heart up, then leave through a room full of people, I just don’t like that,” she said.
And those personal touches can be seen throughout the facility. Revis Wheeler has taken her 15 years of veterinary experience to give animals and their families what they need in a local clinic.
The new space also has separate areas for dental x-ray, surgery and grooming services alongside appointments, emergency and urgent care.
