Cornbelt Open House on Oct. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Cornbelt Fire Department will host their annual Open House event on Oct. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The station, located at 506 E Main St., will be open to the public with free hot dogs and drinks available. The “Old 52” will stretch its legs as it carries Mahomet residents through the streets of downtown, while Brutus the Fire Dog will greet guests alongside the exciting new addition of the Sparky Bounce House.

The department will also have their refurbished Engine 2252 on display.

Firefighters will pass out balloons and new fire hats to children. The fire safety house, which the Cornbelt Fire Department obtained in 2013, will be used to educate youth on how to escape a home when the fire alarm sounds.

This event is free and open to the public.
