Cornbelt called to MSJHS for gas odor, situation contained and fixed
The Cornbelt Fire Department was present at Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School on March 28 at 2:20 p.m.
MSJHS Principal Heather Landrus detected a gas odor in the front office.
Upon arrival, Cornbelt Fire Department Chief John Koller determined that the odor was contained to the front office and that students did not need to be evacuated.
According to an email sent to parents at 3:22 p.m., Landrus wrote said, “It was determined that a generator on the roof was expelling exhaust and this was funneled through the air ducts into the main office area only. The problem was remedied by the facilities director and the office was opened again at 2:50.”
