Cornbelt Fire Open House Event on Oct. 13

The Cornbelt Fire Department will host their annual Open House event to Oct. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The station, located at 506 E Main St., will be open to the public with free hot dogs and drinks available. The “Old 52” will stretch its legs as it carries Mahomet residents through the streets of downtown while Sparky the Fire Dog will greet guests.

The department will also have their refurbished Engine 2252 on display.

Firefighters will pass out balloons and new fire hats to children. The fire safety house, which the Cornbelt Fire Department obtained in 2013, will be used to educate youth on how to escape a home when the fire alarm sounds.

This event is free and open to the public.
