Grant Coleman’s 29-point, nine-rebound performance sparked the Bulldogs to their second narrow win in four days on Tuesday, a 62-60 verdict over Bloomington.
The Bulldogs built a 36-26 lead at halftime.
“We played a great first half,” M-S coach Ryan Bosch said. “We were able to get stops finally as Bloomington maintained much of their distance to us throughout the first half on offensive rebounds.”
Braden Finch scored nine points. Kobe Essien and Cole Lener each finished with seven points.
Lener also chipped in with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Luke Koller cleared six rebounds and Eli Warren contributed four assists. Finch pulled down four rebounds.
“Similar to our game against Dunlap on Friday (a 63-62 M-S win), Bloomington got hot from deep and was able to hit five second-half three-pointers,” Bosch said. “They ultimately pulled within one point with under 10 seconds left, but Braden Finch went 1-for-2 at the line to secure the final score.”
M-S (11-9) returns to action on Friday at Lincoln, which is atop the Apollo Conference standings. The Bulldogs have a home game on Saturday against Rantoul.
