Coleman,Lener lead Bulldogs over Charleston

Grant Coleman poured in 34 points Friday night and Cole Lener posted a double-double as the Mahomet-Seymour boys’ basketball team opened Apollo Conference play with a victory in its home debut.
The Bulldogs ran past Charleston 79-49 on Friday to improve their overall record to 2-3.
Lener and Braden Finch each scored 10 points. Lener pulled down 12 rebounds and also contributed six assists and four steals.
Scoring eight points apiece for M-S were Kobe Essien and Eli Warren.
Coleman and Finch each grabbed seven rebounds. Essien hauled down six rebounds.
Overall, M-S outrebounded Charleston 42-11.
The Bulldogs led 30-17 at halftime and pulled away by putting up 49 second-half points.
“It was a group effort,” M -S coach Ryan Bosch said. “I’m glad the team was able to see some shots go in.
“They’ve continued to work so hard in practice and have shown an ability to defend and rebound. When we make shots and share the ball, we can be very competitive with anybody.”
The Bulldogs hit 32 of 71 shots from the field, 45.1 percent.
M-S returns to action on Tuesday at home against Mount Zion.
