Clements, Fried and Hill victorious at Mount Zion

Emma Clements was part of victories in both singles and doubles on Monday (Sept. 21) though the Bulldogs dropped a 6-3 decision at Mount Zion.
Clements won at No. 4 singles in straight sets, handling Anna Brunner, 6-2, 7-5.
In doubles, she teamed up with Amalie Fried at No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-2 conquest over Allison Bradford and Audrey Bradford.
Also triumphant for M-S was Gianna Hill at No. 6 singles. She rallied to decision Peyton Schroeder 4-6, 6-2, 11-9.
Two of the Bulldogs’ losses in singles came in three-set matches where the M-S competitor won the opening set.
Morgan Lee, at No. 2 singles, won the first set 6-2 before falling 6-2, 10-3. At No. 5 singles, Savannah Amatyleon captured the first set 6-4 before losing a tough 7-5, 14-12 decision.
Another narrow loss for the Bulldogs came at No. 3 doubles where Hill and Sophia Slupski fell, 7-5, 7-5.
On Tuesday (Sept 22) Amalie Fried and Clements won singles matches and teamed up for a win in doubles as the Bulldogs prevailed at Watseka 5-3.
Fried was victorious at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-2 over Ashton Peters.
At No. 4 singles, Clements posted a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Sydney McTaggart.
In doubles, the Fried-Clements duo was triumphant, 8-4, over Peters and Emma Simons.
Other victors for the Bulldogs were Hill at No. 5, over Bailie Rabideau, and Slupski at No. 6, over Baylor Cluver, 4-6, 7-5, 10-7.
The two singles matches that the Bulldogs lost were both in competitive matches.
At No. 2 singles, Lee dropped a 1-6, 7-6 (5), 11-9 decision and at No. 3 singles, Gwen Tee suffered a 6-3, 7-6 (4) setback.
M-S (2-3) returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 26) at Lincoln.
