Claybrooke Ties for Fifth, Mahomet-Seymour Boys’ Golf Places Fifth at Mattoon Invitational

Reis Claybrooke fired rounds of 71 and 73 and tied for fifth place individually with a 144 in the 32-team Mattoon boys’ golf invitational.
The competing schools played a different course on each day of the event, which wrapped up on Saturday (Sept.14).
M-S had rounds of 300 and 316 and ended in fifth place.
Other team leaders for the Bulldogs were Kelton Hennesy (76-82—158); Jacob Schoudel (76-83—159), Cole Thrasher (77-82—159), Jackson Bohm (78-84—162) and Carter Henrikson (84-82—166).
On Thursday (Sept. 12), the M-S junior varsity team compiled a score of 175, but finished behind varsity teams from Charleston and Teutopolis at Charleston.
Nick Shelton carded a 40 to pace the Bulldogs.
Behind him were Zach Blumenshine (43), Jack Meyer (45), Miles Rasche (47), Ethan Peterka (50) and Aden Bergman (51).
M-S will return to action on Monday (Sept. 16) at the Champaign County Invitational.
