Claybrooke posts high score at Lake of the Woods Junior Open

Upcoming Mahomet-Seymour sophomore Reis Claybrooke posted the low score on Thursday (July 28) in the annual Lake of the Woods Junior Open golf tournament.
Claybrooke, 15, carded an 18-hole round of 71 to win the 14-15-year-old boys’ division.
He finished three shots in front of runner-up Canton Wesch, 14, who fired a 74. In third place was Jacob Schoudel, 15, with a 79.
In the girls’ 14-15 division, Sydni Crain, 15, was the champion with a 98.
She was followed by Brooke Hartman, 14, with a 108 and Sydney Carleton, 14, with a 117.
In the boys’ 16-17 category, the winner was Blake Harvey, 16, with a 74.
Trailing him were Leif Olson, 16, with an 81, Benjamin Bandy, 16, with an 85, and Riley Dowers, 16, also with an 85.
The lone entrant in the girls’ 16-17 division was Ameila Birge, 16. She shot a 90.
Competitors in the boys’ 12-13 division played nine holes.
Leading the way was Hunter Benson, 12, with a 37.
Other leaders were Dawson Freeman, 12, with a 42 and Madden Ritter, 13, with a 44.
The younger age groups played on the par-3 course.
The boys’ 10-11 grouping played 18 holes.
Drew Peters, 11, was tops with a 61.
He was followed by Dawson Martin, 10, with a 66 and Austin Ohmes, 10, with a 74.
The entries in the girls’ 10-11 category were Chloe Dawson, 10, with a 93 and Alexa Wenzel, 10, with a 109.
The boys’ 8-9 participants played nine holes.
Logan Elmer, 9, posted a 2-shot win after shooting a 37.
He was followed by Hayden Hogg, 9, with a 39 and Beckett Miller, 8, with a 40.
The youngest age group played five holes.
Winning the boys’ 5-7 division was Emmitt Risley, 7, with a 22.
Next were Cade Wehrman, 6, with a 26 and Benji Sebestik, 5, with a 30.
In the girls’ 5-7 category, the pacesetter was Lucy Shambaugh, 7, with a 32.
