Christianson leads Bulldogs at season’s end
By Fred Kroner
Mahomet-Seymour senior Erik Christianson carded an 81 on Monday (Oct. 4), at the boys’ Class 2A sectional at Metamora Fields, but was four shots away from earning a berth at state.
Christianson was one of four Bulldogs who had qualified for the sectional.
The school’s other participants were Reis Claybrooke (85), Blake Harvey (87) and John Schlenker (95).
“Although we won’t be making the trip to Normal next weekend (for the state finals), this season was one of the best we have had as a team in many years,” M-S coach David Sebestik said.
Among the M-S highlights were:
— Tiger Classic champions;
— Champaign County champions;
— Danville Invitational runner-up.
The Bulldogs also cut 10 strokes off their team average from the 2020-21 season.
