Charleston defeats Mahomet-Seymour Tennis

Senior Gianna Hill and sophomore Savannah Amatyleon posted singles wins for the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ tennis team on Monday (Sept. 27) in a 7-2 loss at Charleston.
Hill took down Emma Amaya, 7-6 (2), 6-2, at No. 5 singles.
At No. 6 singles, Amatyleon handled Maci Mayhall, 6-2, 6-4.
Amatyleon has a 5-2 season record. Hill is 4-3 overall.
At No. 4 singles, M-S’ Sophia Slupski dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Lyla Long. Slupski has a 4-4 season mark.
In doubles, the Bulldogs’ No. 2 duo of Averhy Sanborn and Lillie Hillard suffered a hard-luck, 7-5, 7-5 loss to Lyla Long and Yoana Yordonova.
For all matches, Sanborn and Hillard have a 2-2 record.
The winningest M-S doubles team is Jadyn Hannah and Megan Barnhart. They were decisioned by Hannah Larson, and Emma Amaya, 6-3, 6-2.
Hannah and Barnhart have a 4-2 season mark.
M-S (4-4) returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 30) at Urbana.
