Champaign Jefferson tops Mahomet-Seymour softball

In a junior high softball game where pitchers from the two competing teams combined to issue 31 walks, Mahomet-Seymour fell short at Champaign Jefferson, 23-13, on Wednesday (Aug. 16).
Pfeifer Manuel scored four runs and collected two hits to lead the Bulldogs on offense.
Joelle Snodsmith tallied two runs and Madisyn Morgan stole three bases and knocked in two runs.
Manuel’s hits accounted for two of the four M-S produced.
On Thursday (Aug. 17), M-S was outscored at home by Champaign Edison, 31-15, in a game it led 13-4 after two innings.
Manuel belted a double and triple for the Bulldogs and drove in four runs. She scored twice. Kaisley Shotkoski knocked in three runs. Finishing with two RBI apiece were Snodsmith and Karsyn May-Ellis, who also stole three bases.
Kylah Rice tallied three runs. Teammates scoring twice were Reagan Ericson, Madisyn Morgan and Snodsmith.
In its last five games, M-S has averaged 13.2 runs per contest.
M-S (1-7) is scheduled to return to action on Saturday (Aug. 26) at LeRoy.
