C.J. Shoaf continues to reach new heights during the indoor portion of the Bulldogs’ track and field season.
On Saturday at the Normal West Invitational, Shoaf re-broke the school record in the high jump. He cleared 6 feet, 10 inches and coach Todd Lafond said, “came within a hair of clearing 7 feet.”
Among high schoolers, Shoaf is ranked fifth nationally. He has broken the M-S record (which was at 6-7 prior to this year) twice in two meets.
In the Saturday competition held at Illinois Wesleyan University’s Shirk Center, Shoaf also added a runner-up finish in the 60-meter hurdles (lifetime-best 8.39 seconds).
Teammate Hunter Hendershot was the shot put winner with a toss of 55-6.
Kyle Nofziger’s time of 4 minutes, 41.8 seconds enabled him to place third in the 1,600 meters.
Another Bulldog who excelled was Will Parrott, who achieved personal bests in the long jump (19-8) and the 60-meter dash (7.82 seconds).
M-S will return to action at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 5 in the Bulldog Invitational at the fieldhouse.
