Byron and Boykin sweep shot put and discuss against Monticello

Robert Byron and Caleb Boykin led a 1-2 Mahomet-Seymour sweep in both the shot put and the discus on Monday (April 10) in the Bulldogs’ only home meet of the boys’ track and field season, against Monticello.
Byron was the winner in both weight events.
Overall, M-S athletes won nine of 14 individual events which were contested and captured 1-2 finishes in five events.
Other Bulldog sweeps, besides the weight events, were the 200 meters (Cole Marshall beating Travis Hoffman), the 1,600 meters (Auggie Gaudio beating Kaleb Kasper) and the 3,200 meters (Ethan Ramirez beating Hayden Grotelueschen).
Additional wins by M-S athletes came from Deangelo Hughey (100 meters), Blake Dillman (800 meters), Jaxon Themanson (300-meter hurdles) and Ty Clark (pole vault).
Themanson was also the runner-up in the 110-meter high hurdles. Also placing second was Quinten Goodie Jr. (triple jump).
M-S will return to action on Friday (April 21) in the Metamora ABC Meet.
