Bulldogs win three-school meet at Danville

Mahomet-Seymour’s swimmers and divers won all 12 events on Monday (Oct. 2), leading the Bulldogs to victory in a three-school meet at Danville.
M-S amassed 131 points. Runner-up Danville had 79 points and Charleston ended with 49 points.
Three Bulldogs were double winners in individual events.
Lainey Howard took top honors in the 50-yard freestyle (personal-best 26.61 seconds) and the 500-yard freestyle (season-best 5:48.80).
Caroline Mills swept to victory in the 200-yard individual medley (season-best 2:31.33) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.57).
Talynn O’Donnell was triumphant in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.19) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.18).
Other individual winners for the Bulldogs were diver Bella Almaroad (152.90 points for six dives), Maddie Logsdon (1:14.14 in the 100-yard butterfly) and Claire Waggoner (1:07.77 in the 100-yard freestyle).
In two events, the Bulldogs had the runner-up finisher. Logsdon was second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:42.08) and Christina Peng was second in the 100-yard freestyle (1:13.37).
Contributing third-place finishes were Kayleigh Holt (1:20.70 in the 100-yard butterfly and 1:19.34 in the 100-yard backstroke), Peng (2:37.47 in the 200-yard freestyle) and Waggoner (30.21 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle).
All three M-S relays posted winning efforts.
The 200-yard medley unit featured Holt, Howard, Logsdon and Waggoner. Their combined time was 2:12.44.
The 200-yard freestyle unit of O’Donnell, Waggoner, Peng and Mills were clocked in 1:57.28.
The 400-yard freestyle relay consisted of Mills, Howard, Logsdon and O’Donnell. Their cumulative time was 4:07.26.
M-S (7-7) will return to action on Saturday (Oct. 7) in the Urbana Invitational.
