In its first appearance at home, Mahomet-Seymour’s seventh-grade volleyball team won the championship of its own invitational on Saturday (Jan. 21).
The Bulldogs topped Charleston, 25-10, 25-20; Monticello, 25-13, 20-25, 15-11; and Tolono Unity, 25-17, 25-14.
M-S (5-3) entered tournament play on a three-match losing streak after dropping decisions to Normal Kingsley, Normal Chiddix and Urbana.
The eighth-grade Bulldogs took second place in their home debut, beating Charleston and Tolono Unity, but falling to eventual champion Monticello.
The eighth-graders (4-4), had defeated Urbana on Tuesday (Jan. 17) to snap a three-match losing streak to Mount Zion, Normal Kingsley and Normal Chiddix.
The Bulldogs’ teams return to action on Thursday (Jan. 26) at home against Champaign Jefferson.
