Mahomet-Seymour’s junior high baseball team followed up on an IESA Class 3A regional semifinal win over Danville North Ridge, 11-1, on Saturday (Sept.16) with a 9-3 victory over Edison in Champaign on Monday (Sept. 18).
Bradley Jones improved his pitching record to 5-0. He worked five innings, walked four and struck out nine.
Wil Selk threw the last two innings, allowing no hits. He walked two batters and fanned three.
Jones and Selk were also offensive catalysts.
Selk was 4-for-4 with three RBI. Jones was 2-for-4. Both hits were doubles. Colin Whooley delivered two RBI.
Both Camden Beedy and Brennan Bailey tallied two runs.
M-S (16-2) returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 23) with a sectional championship game at Normal Parkside against Bloomington Evans (17-3). The winner earns a berth in the state tournament.
