Bulldogs win first game in Invitational

Paislee Welge became the third player on the Mahomet-Seymour Junior High eighth-grade girls’ basketball squad to lead the team in scoring on Thursday (Sept. 30).
Welge tossed in 10 points as M-S posted a 40-7 victory at Paxton-Buckley-Loda.
Erin Dallas and Ava Yeakel each contributed eight points.
On Monday (Oct 4), M-S opened play in its own Bulldog Invitational with a 33-10 verdict over Tuscola in a game it led at halftime, 21-4.
Yeakel netted a game-high nine points. Teammates Hannah Creel and Lily Bosworth each chipped in with six points.
On Tuesday (Oct. 5), Bosworth hit a game-high 12 points to lead the Bulldogs past Mount Zion, 33-14, in a second-round tournament contest. Creel added six points.
After Bosworth, M-S had sequential scoring. The team’s other points were scored by players with six points, five points, four points, three points, two points and one point.
The Bulldogs (7-1) return to action on Thursday (Oct. 7) against Tolono Unity in the final round of the Bulldog Invitational.
