Bulldogs tie with Dunlap

By Fred Kroner

Mahomet-Seymour battled back from a game-long deficit on Saturday (Aug. 26) to salvage a 1-1 tie at Dunlap in the season-opening boys’ soccer match.

Dunlap netted a goal in the first 10 minutes and held the lead until the final 15 minutes when Isaac Warren converted a penalty kick.

Hayden Litteken finished with four saves.

“The Bulldogs showcased their mettle in their inaugural match of the season, displaying resilience against a formidable opponent,” M-S coach Jeremy Davis said. “Notably, Alex O’Brian’s standout performance as a center back added to their commendable display on the field.”

In the JV match, a goal by Colin Jackson in the first 30 seconds was the difference as M-S prevailed, 1-0.

Davis said that Jesiah Hall-Harpst and Kadyn Jackson were stout defenders who helped to preserve the shutout.

The Bulldogs (1-0) return to action on Tuesday (Aug. 29) in their Apollo Conference opener at Mount Zion.
