Mahomet-Seymour wrestlers recorded 11 pins – including two apiece by Logan Petro (145 pounds), Hayden Nelson (170 pounds) and Daniel Renshaw (220 pounds) – on Tuesday (May 25) as the team remained undefeated in dual meets.
Competing at home, M-S overwhelmed Danville 71-6, Warrensburg-Latham 72-3 and Shelbyville 78-0.
Both of Petro’s pins were secured in less than 50 seconds. He ended his matches in 43 and 46 seconds. Nelson’s falls occurred in 44 seconds and 2:36. Renshaw needed 1:33 and 2:21.
The night’s fastest fall was registered by M-S’ Stevie Pogue (195 pounds) in 40 seconds.
The Bulldogs’ other pinners, with one apiece, were: Tallen Pawlak (132 pounds) in 1:15; Peyton Myers (160 pounds) in 1:41; Brennan Houser (182 pounds) in 1:27 and Colton Crowley (285 pounds) in 3:11.
Houser also had a dominant win by technical fall, 15-0.
Not all of the news on Tuesday was good for the Bulldogs. In the first meet of the night, 170-pound senior Gage Granadino suffered a potential season-ending knee injury.
Three days earlier, with a first-period pin against Centennial, Granadino became the second squad member this season to reach the 100-career win club. He joined another senior, Logan Hillard (138 pounds), who reached that milestone with a pin against Robinson on May 18.
M-S is 18-0 in dual meets and will return to action on Tuesday (June 1) at Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley in a meet that will also include El Paso/Gridley.
