Bulldogs reach 20-win mark

Tristen Adams poured in a season-high 22 points on Thursday (Jan. 12) as the Mahomet-Seymour seventh-grade boys’ basketball team reached the 20-win mark for the season.
The Bulldogs handed Jefferson a 59-40 loss in Champaign.
Adams connected on 10 of 12 shots from the free throw line.
Jackson Golden contributed 18 points and Konner Fisher tossed in 11 points.
M-S opened up a 16-7 lead after one quarter.
On Tuesday (Jan. 17), the seventh-grade Bulldogs overpowered Monticello, 42-20, in Monticello.
Golden’s 15 points topped the team’s list of scorers.
Fisher netted 11 points and Adams totaled eight points.
Fisher sank three three-pointers. Teammates draining long-range shots were Brennan Bailey and Levi Lunney.
M-S charged into a 15-2 lead after one quarter and the margin grew to 27-8 at halftime.
The seventh-graders hold a 21-2 season record and have won five games in a row.
The Bulldog eighth-graders were also victorious at Jefferson, winning a 49-26 decision.
Paxson O’Malley fired in a game-high 25 points. Bryson Tiefenthaler hit eight points and Brayden Graddy made seven points.
The Bulldogs surged into a 15-3 lead after one period.
On Tuesday (Jan 17), M-S rallied from a first-quarter deficit to win at Monticello, 37-27.
Monticello led, 11-8, after the first period.
Parker Henry’s 13 points were a team high. Tiefenthaler generated 12 points and O’Malley contributed seven points.
O’Malley and Ben Ohms hit the team’s three-point shots.
The eighth-graders have a 16-7 season record after four consecutive wins.
The M-S squad return to action on Thursday (Jan. 19) at home against Normal Kingsley in their regular-season finale.
