Bulldogs reach 10-win mark with victory over Rantoul

Mahomet-Seymour’s girls’ basketball team reached the 10-win mark in its final pre-Christmas tune-up.

The Bulldogs overpowered Rantoul, 57-18, on the Eagles’ court on Wednesday (Dec. 21). With its fifth consecutive victory, M-S is 10-3 overall.

Chloe Pruitt totaled 14 points and nine rebounds to lead the Bulldogs in both categories.

Ellie Dallas and Kylie Waldinger both registered 10 points. Durbin Thomas contributed seven points. Emma Dallas and Savannah Orgeron each added five points.

Besides Pruitt’s effort on the boards, Orgeron cleared four rebounds. Hauling down three rebounds apiece were Abby Bunting, Emma Dallas, Thomas and Ava Yeakel.

Bunting and Yeakel both blocked three shots. Emma Dallas blocked two shots.

Bunting grabbed five steals and Thomas had four steals. Ellie Dallas contributed two steals.

The Bulldogs created a 16-2 lead after one quarter and a 28-9 bulge at halftime.

M-S returns to action in the three-day Mattoon Holiday Tournament, which starts on Tuesday (Jan. 27) when the Bulldogs take on Olney Richland County at 10 a.m. and then follow up with a contest against Altamont at 1 p.m.

The M-S junior varsity also won at Rantoul, 51-10.
