Bulldogs rally in IESA Regional before loss to Urbana

Mahomet-Seymour’s softball team turned in a powerful performance on Wednesday (Sept. 8) in its Class 3A IESA regional quarterfinal game at home.
The third-seeded Bulldogs pounded Champaign Franklin 20-5 behind a 21-hit attack that featured four M-S home runs.
Socking round-trippers were Lily Bosworth, Brooklyn Dyer, Kalista Granadino and Brooklyn Tuttle.
Dyer drilled three hits in the game and knocked in six runs. She also had a double, and was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.
Ava Yeakel was 4-for-4. Other Bulldogs with at least two hits were Bosworth, Presley Cox, Granadino, Olivia Minor and Addison Schulze.
Kate Severns earned the pitching win. In four innings, she struck out eight batters.
M-S (6-6) ended its season on Saturday (Sept. 11) in a semifinal game at Winter Park in Danville against second-seeded Urbana. Urbana won its quarterfinal game, 25-0, over Champaign Jefferson and topped M-S, 7-4.
Tuttle finished 3-for-3 for the Bulldogs. Dyer collected two hits for a team that managed seven hits in total.
Schulze pitched five innings, striking out two, and suffered the loss. Severns worked the final inning.
