Bulldogs place fourth at Urbana Invitational

Junior Eden Oelze was a double winner and senior Olivia McMurry captured a win in one event on Saturday (Oct. 9) helping the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ swimming team to a fourth-place finish in the eight-school Urbana Invitational.
Oelze won the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 28.81 seconds) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.90). McMurry’s win came in the 50-yard freestyle (26.56).
Oelze and McMurry were also members of two relays that earned runner-up finishes.
They joined Anna Lagacy and Kate Raver for a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (2:04.85). Taylor Easter and Raver teamed up with Oelze and McMurry for a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:53.37).
McMurry and Kiera McCoy were top-six placers in the 100-yard backstroke. McMurry was second (1:05.28) and McCoy was sixth (1:17.56).
McCoy also had a fourth-place performance in the 200-yard freestyle (2:28.02).
Raver secured a third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (1:04.32) and Lagacy was third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:26.51).
Maddy Logsdon added a fourth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:49.47).
M-S’ 400-yard freestyle relay unit of McCoy, Easter, Raver and Lagacy ended in third in 4:39.59.
Centennial amassed 516 points to win team honors. Following the Chargers were Charleston (388), Urbana (348) and M-S (328).
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday (Oct. 13) at Urbana in a meet that also includes St. Thomas More.
