Bulldogs place 8th at Metamora Invitational

Led by sophomore Blake Dillman, the Mahomet-Seymour boys’ cross-country team placed eighth on Saturday (Oct. 8) in the 22-school Metamora Runnin’ Red Invitational.
Dillman crossed the finish line in 16 minutes, 18.40 seconds for a 2.94-mile course.
The Bulldogs ran in a tight pack with the team’s top eight runners finishing within 38 seconds of one another.
Trailing Dillman were: Ben Wallace (50th in 16:21.10), Lukas Nykaza (53rd in 16:26.60), Henry McMurry (54th in 16:28.50), Grant Smysor (58th in 16:33.10), Emmett Kearns (59th in 16:34.90), Hayden Grotelueschen (70th in 16:45.80) and Kaleb Kasper (80th in 16:53.30).
Other Bulldog finishers were Lukas Carey (95th in 17:07.40), Zach Wilcoski (124th in 17:37.30), Gavin Fan (175th in 18:52.30), Henry Carpenter (176th in 18:53.60), Colin Johnson (188th in 19:17.60), Corban McMinn (211th in 19:55.30), Alex Carpenter (239th in 21:34.80) and Ben Schultz (261st in 27:01.60).
All eight M-S runners who participated in the same meet one year ago, ran a quicker time on Saturday.
M-S returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 11) in the Apollo Conference meet at Mattoon.
