Bulldogs pick up wins over Edison, Urbana and St. Joe
Trey Peters tallied a team-high 16 points on Wednesday (Feb. 10) as the Bulldogs overpowered Champaign Edison in Mahomet, 44-26.
Luke Dyer scored 13 points.
“We were able to create turnovers and play pretty solid defense throughout the game,” coach Doug Ingold said.
On Thursday (Feb. 18), Dyer sparked the Bulldogs to a 40-21 win at home over St. Joseph.
Dyer scored nine points. Nate Hale and Peters each ended with eight points.
“We knew this would be a good game defensively,” Ingold said. “St. Joe is always difficult to score against.
“We shot the ball really well; making seven three-point field goals.”
The eighth-graders ran their winning streak to five games on Saturday (Feb. 20) with their largest winning margin of the year, 49-23, at Urbana Middle School.
Peters notched nine of his team-high 14 points as the Bulldogs opened up a 15-3 lead.
Dyer totaled 11 points. Ray Long and Mason Orton each contributed eight points.
“We played another good game defensively,” Ingold said.
M-S (5-1) returns to action on Thursday (Feb. 25) at home against Tolono Unity.
M-S seventh-grade boys’ basketball
The seventh-grade M-S boys’ basketball team ran its winning streak to four games on Saturday (Feb. 20), scoring a season-high 60 points in a 60-53 triumph at Urbana Middle School.
Four Bulldogs scored in double figures, led by Landon Hannah with a season-high 17 points.
Jackson Bohm hit for 12 points, Nolan Franz notched 11 points and Ryan Pruitt put in 10 points.
Other scoring contributors were Cade Ashby with six points and Henry McMurry with four points.
On Thursday (Feb. 18), Bohm had his top scoring output of the season, 16 points, as the Bulldogs won at home, 37-32, over St. Joseph.
Franz scored 10 points, Hannah had seven, Ashby added two points and Cole Thrasher also scored two points.
M-S (4-2) returns to action on Thursday (Feb. 25) at home against Tolono Unity.
