Bulldogs overpower Normal Chiddix and Mattoon

The Bulldogs won 28 of 34 matches in their final two home dual meets of the season last week, overpowering Normal Chiddix 78-7 on Tuesday (Feb. 8) and Mattoon 75-18 on Thursday (Feb. 10).
Talon Decker (112 pounds) and Peyton Mitchem (126 pounds) won both of their matches by pin.
Teammates who finished with one pin were Wyatt Bell (80 pounds), Auggie Gaudio (85 pounds), Beau Back (105 pounds), Corey Bell (119 pounds), Marco Casillas (135 pounds) and Noah Frank (155 pounds).
One other Bulldog won a non-forfeited match: Grant Arbuckle (167 pounds) earned a win by decision.
M-S (14-2) is idle until entering the IESA regional on Saturday (Feb. 26).
Mahomet-Seymour Junior High Volleyball
Mahomet-Seymour’s seventh-grade volleyball team placed second on Saturday (Feb. 12) at the Urbana Cupid Shuffle.
The Bulldogs bounced back from a loss to Effingham, 25-12, 25-14, to beat Our Lady of Lourdes, 25-21, 25-19, and Urbana, 25-21, 26-24.
On Monday (Feb. 14), M-S won at Tolono Unity, 23-25, 25-16, 25-17.
The seventh-graders are 13-5.
The eighth-grade team also won at Tolono Unity, 24-26, 25-12, 25-22.
The eighth-graders are 12-4.
Both squads return to action on Thursday (Feb. 17), weather permitting, at Champaign St. Matthew.
