Both the seventh- and the eighth-grade boys’ basketball teams from Mahomet-Seymour Junior High opened their seasons on Tuesday (Nov. 1) with victories in first-round action of the Bulldog Invitational.
The seventh-graders jumped into a 12-1 lead after one quarter and overpowered Mount Zion, 40-8. Konner Fisher hit five of his game-high 11 points in the opening stanza. Tristen Adams added eight points.
The eighth-graders edged Mount Zion, 40-37. Paxson O’Malley nailed a team-high 20 points and drilled three fourth-quarter three-pointers. Landon Busch contributed seven points.
Both M-S squads return to action on Wednesday (Nov. 2) in second-round tournament action against Danville North Ridge.
