Mahomet-Seymour golfers Brooke Hartman, Elena Tompkins, Sydney Carleton and Jama Craig led the Bulldogs to victory in their season-opening girls’ golf meet on Thursday (Aug. 10).
In a four-person scramble at Pontiac, they helped M-S post a 70, which earned the squad a nine-stroke victory.
On Monday (Aug. 14), the Bulldogs captured fifth place as a team in a two-person scramble at Charleston.
Hartman and Sophie Park combined for a 41. Craig and Kalista Granadino finished with a 43. Tompkins and Carleton came in at 44.
In addition, Granadino recorded a tee shot closest to the pin on the par-3 eighth hole. Her shot came to rest within 5 feet of the cup. Craig made the putt for a birdie.
On Tuesday (Aug. 15), M-S opened the dual-meet portion of its schedule by dispatching Tuscola, 193-223, at Lake of the Woods.
The top five finishers were all from M-S.
Hartman was the medalist with a 44. She was followed by Park (48), Craig (50), Tompkins (51) and Granadino (53). Carleton was a shot behind (54).
M-S (1-0) returns to action on Thursday (Aug. 17) against St. Thomas More and Normal West.
