A seventh-inning rally on Tuesday (March 12) enabled the Mahomet-Seymour baseball team to salvage a 9-6 win at Tolono Unity.

The Bulldogs trailed, x-x, after six innings.

Tyson Finch knocked in three runs for the Bulldogs, including two with a seventh-inning single that created the final margin.

Matthew Orr produced two RBI and Camden Heinold drove in one run.

The tying run scored when Heinold was hit by a pitch. The go-ahead run came across when Orr scored following a wild pitch on a walk to Randolph.

Raymond Long scored three of the M-S runs and stole two bases. Heinold and Orr each tallied two runs. Cole Henderson and Finn Randolph crossed home plate once apiece.

Heinold, Orr and Randolph all collected two hits. Finch, Long and Cade Starrick added one hit apiece.

One of Orr’s hits was the team’s first home run of the season. Heinold and Randolph both swatted doubles.

Randolph was the third of three M-S athletes to take the mound.

He threw the last three innings, did not allow a run and struck out five hitters. He picked up the win.

Mason Orton was the Game 1 starter. He fanned five in two innings. He was followed to the mound by Alec Bergman, who allowed one hit in two innings and registered one strikeout.

M-S (1-0) returns to action on Saturday (March 16) in the Metro East Kickoff Classic at Triad High School. The Bulldogs will face Oak Forest in the 12:30 p.m. game.
